Country Superstar Performs Legendary Rock Cover At Sold Out Moline Show

A country legend is rolling through the Midwest and made a stop in the Quad Cities.

This year has been an exciting one for Chris Stapleton. He began 2023 with singing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl. Audiences widely consider his rendition as one that will go down in the history books as one of the greatest performances of recent years.

The 'Tennessee Whiskey' singer set out on the latest leg of his critically acclaimed All-American Road Show tour in mid-March of this year. The eight-time Grammy Award winner has been kept busy with this tour for the past few years.

One of his most recent shows went down right here in the Midwest.

The 'Starting Over' singer-songwriter performed to a sold-out crowd in Moline, Illinois on Thursday, June 2nd. His show at the Vibrant Arena at The MARK drew in thousands of people from all over.

He brought along The War and Treaty and Marcus King as his supporting acts for this show.

With his musical style being a mix of a bit of rock, country, and southern soul, fans at this show were blown away by the magnitude of the Kentucky native. Stapleton reciprocated the feeling of awe at a show like this.

He made it clear that he also understood just how special his situation was.

"Every night I get to do this, it feels like some sort of strange dream that I can't wake up from," Stapleton said to the Quad Cities crowd.

Besides performing all of his hits, there were two big highlights of the show that evening. One occurred when his band went for a smoke break, and Chris performed three songs all by himself.

Equipped with just his voice and guitar, this living legend was able to mesmerize the crowd in a sort of haze. The entire audience was swept away with the music vibrating from the strings of his Gibson J-45.

Another highlight from the show featured Stapleton performing a song that's not even his. As he neared the end of his set, the country star did a brief cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd's 'Free Bird.'

Stapleton is set to return to the Hawkeye State on Thursday, June 22nd. He will be bringing his tour to the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.
