
FDA Warns Popular Snack Sold In Midwest Stores Could Be Deadly
There is never a dull moment in the world of product recalls. Today, we have another that impacts a product sold in 16 states, including Wisconsin and Illinois.
The recalled product is chocolate-covered macadamia nuts, ironically recalled because they contain nuts.

While it may sound funny, for those with a serious nut allergy, consuming the recalled product could potentially be fatal.
Chocolate Covered Nuts Target and Walmart Recalled
Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Company, based in Hawaii, has recalled a popular chocolate-covered snack due to its containing a "life-threatening" allergen.

The recalled nuts could contain undeclared almonds and cashews. Fortunately, there have been no illnesses reported to date.
Traces of almonds and cashews were found during routine inspections.
What Products Are Impacted By the Recall
The current recall is only for the 0.6-ounce and 4-ounce bags of Mauna Loa Dark Chocolate Covered Macadamias.
If you recently purchased one of these bags and you are sensitive to the allergens, you should check to if your bag(s) have been recalled:

- Sell By Date(s): 0.6-ounce bags: October 2026 4.0-ounce bags: July 2026
- Sold: Walmart, Target, and ACME Markets
In addition to Wisconsin and Illinois, the recalled products were sold in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Maine, Michigan, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Washington.
