You Raised Lots for Our Local Children’s Hospital
I'm sitting here in the K-Hawk studio writing this after learning the final numbers for the KHAK Radiothon 2024 to benefit the University of Iowa Health Care Stead Family Children's Hospital. I'm reflecting on the last two days. When I first started at the beginning of May this was on the tip of everyone's tongue, Children's Miracle Network. Now that it is in the rearview I can say that Brain & Courtlin did another amazing job, interviewing, and keeping it together as they talked to all these families. I sat on the other end listening and sobbing for many of these stories. Sorry, I don't do well with sick children. Thanks to the two amazing hosts. The stories of triumph were great and the stories of loss were sometimes more than you could take.
I heard every interview, every minute of these last two days. I didn't get to meet these families but they shared so much that you feel you know them or can empathize with them and their situation.
Also, quickly thanks to our engineer Ricki Peters. We had a little bit of a hiccup and well, electronics are often uncooperative. This guy has lots of ground to cover and he saved us again, thanks man.
Thank you to everyone who showed up and made this event a success. We remember those who joined us in 2024. The amount raised is below unless you already looked at the check.
THIS is Sawyer and he was ready to take your call!! I also seriously think he wanted to take our job.
Let's also thank the volunteers and support staff as well as our partners for helping us with this amazing event. When we went to set up I got to meet many of the people working the event. Plus others who ran by. ]
The amount raised was over $148,000. That's what you did for The University of Iowa Health Care Stead Family Children’s Hospital. So many smiling faces for what can be a not-so-happy time. We thank them for their hard work and you for listening and donating. Thanks also go to the doctors and nurses who help the children every day, all day. I couldn't do it, but they do and they do it well. It does take a village and it's good to be part of this one.
