Free Friday Outdoor Concerts Will Return to Cedar Rapids in May

Rock the Block will return to NewBo City Market this spring and summer! The official artist lineup has been announced for this year's concerts.

Rock the Block is an annual concert series that takes place on the outdoor stage at NewBo City Market in Cedar Rapids on Friday nights. The shows are free to attend on a first-come-first-served basis and take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Here is the official 2025 schedule:

• May 9th - Jordan Messerole
• May 16th - Matthew Kane and the Band Greenbrier
• May 30th - Vinyl Alibi
• June 6th - Saint Boogie Brass Band
• June 13th - Alicia Monee
• June 20th - Brett Newski & the Bad Inventions
• June 27th - Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival Performance
• July 4th - FunkDaddies
• July 11th - Fight Paper Box
• July 18th - The King of Mars
• July 25th - Molly Nova & The Hawks
• August 1st - River Glen & Band
• August 8th - The Evan Stock Band
• August 15th - Betty Calling
• August 22nd - Fresh Fighters
• August 29th - The DETOUR Band

There are a few rules for Rock the Block. First of all, NO outside food, beverages, or coolers are allowed, aside from reusable water bottles. The Facebook event page encourages attendees to "please support our small businesses and get your snacks from the Shopkeepers inside the Market." Food and beverage vendors on-hand include:

It's also important to note that any alcohol that you purchase has to be consumed within the market barriers. No smoking is allowed on the property.
