A Cedar Valley Burger Joint is Making a Comeback At a New Location

Oh My Grill is bringing their legendary burgers back to the Cedar Valley! A new location featuring a burger-focused menu is set to open soon in Cedar Falls.

When Did Oh My Grill First Open?

According to an article from The Northern Iowan, Oh My Grill opened at 2020 College St in Cedar Falls in the spring of 2019. At the time, the restaurant wanted to offer residents and college students a late-night, affordable, "more convenient meal option right beside UNI’s campus." The original menu consisted of fresh, organic burgers with a wide variety of toppings, as well as loaded fries and milkshakes.

When Did They Stop Selling Burgers?

In March of 2025, Oh My Grill in Cedar Falls announced on social media that they were going to be making a pretty big change. After 6 years in business, the restaurant revealed that they would be completely switching up their menu. That meant the elimination of their beloved burgers, fries, and milkshakes. A recent post from the restaurant explained that there were several different reasons that they came to that decision:

"It wasn’t easy stepping away from what so many people knew us for past 7 years. We knew not everyone would understand the issues we had with parking, building ventilation, and student affordability, but we believed we had to evolve to keep building something that would be more affordable, fresh, quick and authentic that #cedarvalley and specially University of Northern Iowa and college hill needs."

But, at the time of the original announcement, Oh My Grill assured customers that their burgers would not be gone for good. A post from the restaurant on Facebook read:

"But don’t worry—we’re not saying goodbye forever. We’re searching for a bigger and better home to bring back the burgers you love! Stay tuned for updates!"

A month later, Oh My Grill announced their "new chapter" as a Mediterranean restaurant. They reopened on April 29th of 2025, offering items like shawarma, falafel, pita wraps, samosas, baklava, fattoush, and more. Since then, the menu at Oh My Grill has continued to grow and evolve, but, that doesn't mean the restaurant forgot about the promise they made to customers in March of 2025.

Where is Oh My Grill Opening Their New Burger Spot?

Since their rebrand, the folks at Oh My Grill have been working behind the scenes to bring back their burgers, but to a different location. Then, in late April of 2026, they finally announced their official burger comeback. A Facebook post from Oh My Grill reads:

"After a year off… we heard you loud and clear.

The burgers that built OH MY GRILL will be BACK.

New home. Same flavor. Bigger comeback. College Square Mall."

The Mall at College Square has confirmed on social media that Oh My Grill will be opening a new location in the mall's food court with a burger-focused menu. As of right now, we don't have an official opening date, but you can follow both Oh My Grill and The Mall at College Square on social media for the latest updates.

What Will Happen to the Current Oh My Grill Location?

Don't worry! The Oh My Grill at 2020 College St isn't going anywhere. A Facebook post from May 8th says that the College Hill spot will keep growing "with Mediterranean favorites and our new must try BBQ menu." They also teased that they plan to bring their Mediterranean grill concept to Cedar Rapids.
