Play With Kitties and Relax at a New Cat Lounge Coming to Iowa City
If you're in need of a little cat therapy, there's a new place opening soon here in the Corridor that will offer just that! Get ready for the Kitty Corner Social Club at 20 South Clinton Street in Iowa City!
The Kitty Corner's Facebook page describes their cat lounge as, "a cozy, welcoming space where humans can relax, hang out, and spend quality time with adoptable cats in an stress-free environment." Guests will pay an admission fee to hangout in the lounge, where they can interact with 6 to 10 adoptable cats, read a book, use the wifi, and just relax! Here are the prices listed on the official website:
- 15 minutes of nose boops $11
- 30 minutes of cuddles: $15
- 60 minutes of feline bliss: $22
While the Kitty Corner will not sell any food or beverages, they do plan to host events like trivia night, cat yoga, fundraisers, and even private events. Private events start at $300 for a one-hour.
All of the cats that hang out at the Kitty Corner will be available for adoption through Iowa City Animal Care and Adoption Center, but that doesn't mean you have to be interested in adoption to visit! The Facebook page says, "even if adoption isn’t your goal, simply spending time with cats is proven to boost your mood and overall well-being."
The Kitty Corner Social Club is set to open sometime in early 2025, although there isn't an official date set just yet. Once they open, both walk-ins and online reservations will be accepted. You can get more details on the Frequently Asked Questions page on their website HERE, and you can follow the Facebook page HERE for the latest updates on their opening.
Another cat lounge is coming soon to the Corridor! Back in 2024, Mabel & Pearl Tea Co. announced on social media that a cat lounge and tea bar would be arriving in Marion sometime in 2025. You can get the latest updates on their Facebook page HERE.
And, if you're over in the Burlington area, there's a cat lounge and game room at 1109 Summer Street called Press Paws! It opened its doors last year and also features adorable adoptable kitties. You can read more about the business on their website HERE.
