Joensy’s in Cedar Rapids Officially Closed Its Doors This Month
Unfortunately, Cedar Rapidians will need to find a new place to grab a pork tenderloin. The Joensy's location at 2660 Wiley Blvd SW officially closed for business earlier this month.
Back on April 11th, local foodie Joe Sample posted some photos on the Cedar Rapids Area Support Local Group on Facebook that revealed some sad news. The post read:
"Sad day today! Last day open for Joensy's. Had one last meal with family and friends today."
Many people, including Joe himself, had no idea that the longtime Iowa staple would be closing down. They only found out after visiting the restaurant. The business' Google listing and Facebook page are still active, but a post from Backes Auctioneers confirmed the news, writing:
"The owner of Joensy's in Cedar Rapids has decided to close his restaurant and liquidate his assets in this online auction."
The online auction kicked off on April 15th and runs through today (Wednesday, April 23rd) at 10 a.m.
The Cedar Rapids Joensy's is the second area location to close in recent years. The Center Point restaurant, which was open for 30 years, shut down operations back in October of 2022. The Solon location closed back in 2012. There is still one remaining Joensy's location here in the Corridor, and that's the one at 2563 N Dodge Street in Iowa City. The hours listed for the Iowa City location are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Speaking of tenderloins... the 2025 Iowa's Best Breaded Pork Tenderloin Contest is officially underway! Find out how you can nominate your favorite local restaurant HERE.
