I remember the days when you didn't rely on a sale to afford eggs. But in 2025, a dozen might set you back anywhere from $6 to $9 or even more! You can see how some restaurants, especially fast food spots, might decide to use an egg alternative to save some money. Yes, some do use artificial eggs. But we were surprised to learn just how many fast food restaurants still use the real thing.

So what is the difference between a real egg and artificial egg products? Many fast food chains use fake eggs. They will often include soybean oil and xanthan gum as ingredients according to Yahoo. If you really want to know, just go to the restaurant's website and look it up. I know it's only fast food, but we deserve to at least know what is in our breakfast burritos and sandwiches. Another fast food restaurant that uses real eggs is Wendy's. Yahoo reports that they've used fresh cracked eggs in their breakfast items since they launched their breakfast menu in 2020.

So what are some of the big fast food chains that don't use real eggs? Yahoo reports that Chick-fil-A uses fake eggs loaded with additives. Burger King uses an egg-based mixture for their breakfast items, including their Croissan'wiches. Dunkin' uses an artificial egg product, and Starbucks uses egg patties containing artificial flavoring and oils according to Yahoo.
