For years, the building located at 5070 Lindale Drive. NE was home to Happy Joe's Pizza. When Happy Joe's closed, it became Mezcal Tequilla Cocina, a Spanish fusion restaurant. Now, new signage is pointing in a completely different direction.

The Cedar Rapids Gazette reports that new signage went up last week for a new restaurant called Boiling Pot, right next to Great Harvest Bread Co. off Collins Road in Cedar Rapids. It was most recently Mezcal Tequilla Cocina, which along with its sister restaurant, Chophouse Downtown in Cedar Rapids, suddenly closed in August of last year.

The Gazette reports that Boiling Pot will offer all-you-can-eat dining options, and will become Cedar Rapids' first restaurant for Chinese hot pot. Mix Sushi in Uptown Marion became the first corridor area restaurant to offer hot pot, with electric burners built into each table according to the Gazette. Below is an example of what Mix offers.

Hot pot offers a unique dining experience in a group setting. The Gazette reports that diners can cook their own meat and veggies at their table by dropping them into boiling broth. After several minutes, you then scoop up your food and put it in a bowl.

The Gazette reports that a representative for the restaurant stated that Boiling Pot hopes to be open for business by January 20th, depending on inspections.
