Did you know that Le Mars, Iowa makes more ice cream than any place on the planet?

I recently came across an article from Taste of Home that outlines the most iconic ice cream flavor in all 50 states, and I was not surprised to see that the pick for Iowa is from Blue Bunny. Made over in Northwest Iowa, Blue Bunny Ice Cream (from Wells Enterprises) has been an Iowa favorite since it was founded back in the in 1910s by Fred H. Wells Jr. and his sons.

According to Taste of Home, Iowa's most iconic ice cream flavor is Blue Bunny's Bunny Tracks. They actually report that it's the brand's most popular flavor, aside from plain old vanilla!

Blue Bunny's website says that Bunny Tracks consists of vanilla ice cream, "chocolaty peanut butter bunnies, chocolaty covered peanuts, [and] caramel and fudge swirls." In addition to the standard ice cream, Blue Bunny also offers a Bunny Tracks Load'd Sundae, Load'd Cone, and Load'd Bar.

You may remember that Blue Bunny once offered Chocolate Bunny Tracks, but that flavor has since been retired.

The next time you're over in Northwest Iowa, you may want to make a visit to the Wells Visitor Center & Ice Cream Parlor! The facility gives Blue Bunny-lovers a look at the history of the company, as well as "an interactive experience beyond the tastes and smells of the Parlor." The Ice Cream Parlor offers 40 different flavors of Blue Bunny Ice Cream, including some that you can't find in stores. And the best part? You can actually try as many of those flavors as you want! In fact, sampling is encouraged!
