Iowa’s Kris Murray Opens Eyes with Incredible Performance [PHOTOS]
The Iowa men's basketball team was racked by foul trouble in the frontcourt against Indiana Thursday night in a hugely important conference game. Keegan Murray was among those in foul trouble most of the night, but his twin brother Kris filled the void and then some, announcing to the world that he's a great player too.
Kris Murray's performance in Iowa's 83-74 win against Indiana Thursday evening at Carver-Hawkeye Arena was a statement. With his best friend and slightly younger brother Keegan (Kris was born first) saddled with foul trouble that only allowed him to play 22 minutes, Kris played more than 29 minutes, to lead all Hawks in the game. And man did he play.
As the photos below show, Kris Murray did it all Thursday night. He drove to the basket.
He dunked.
He blocked shots.
He nailed 3-pointers.
Kris Murray, a Cedar Rapids Prairie grad, poured in a career-high 29 points Thursday night on 12 of 18 shooting. He also grabbed 11 rebounds, had 2 assists, 3 steals, and 3 blocks. All of that with ONE turnover. When it was over, it was he his teammates celebrated, and rightfully so.
That celebration and show of love from his teammates continued in the locker room with water bottle showers for Kris.
Watching the game last night, I felt at times like Kris was wearing Keegan's uniform as he seemed to take over the game for stretches, just like his brother so often does. Make no mistake, this was Kris Murray. A young man who showed the Big Ten last night that he too has a very bright future.
