The next time you head to a show a in Moline or Des Moines, make sure you bring a debit or credit card! Two big venues are now "cashless" when it comes to concession stands and merch.

Earlier this year, I went to Vibrant Arena in Moline to go see a Chris Stapleton concert. I don't go to the arena very often, so I was surprised to discover that I couldn't pay for my food or drinks using cash. It wasn't an issue for me, as I typically don't carry cash, but my friend had specifically taken out cash for the occasion.

This morning, my coworker Brain was telling me about his visit to Moline to see Morgan Wallen over the weekend. He was also surprised to discover that he and his son were unable to use cash, which was a bit inconvenient for them. That's when I realized that there are probably a lot of people who are unaware of this new policy.

According to their official website, "the Vibrant Arena concession and merchandise stands accept only credit and debit cards. No cash is accepted for food, beverage, and retail purchases." If you do happen to bring cash, you will be able to transfer it to a gift card at "designated locations within the venue," which you are then able to use at the cashless stands. It is important to note that the Vibrant Arena box office DOES accept cash, as well as debit and credit cards.

Vibrant Arena isn't the only large venue in the area to have a "cashless" policy. According to the Wells Fargo Arena website, the Des Moines venue is now "mostly a cashless facility." All of their concession stands now only accept debit, credit, and gift cards, as well. The only exception is the Overtime Tap stand near section 108. The site says:

"Guests are able to transfer cash onto a gift card at the Overtime Tap stand (Section 108) if you do not carry a debit or credit card."

Did you know that Adventureland Park in Altoona is also now a cashless facility? You can read more about that HERE.
