An Iowa Teacher Has Been Charged With Sexually Abusing a Student

A teacher from western Iowa has been charged with sexual abuse of a student.
According to KCRG, a teacher from East Sac County High School was just charged with several counts of sexual abuse surrounding an inappropriate relationship with a student.
After rumors began circulating about the relationship an investigation was opened which led to charges. Officials report that 34-year-old Stefanie Kelsey, a teacher at the school, has admitted to "sex acts with a 15-year-old on more than one occasion" between August 25, 2021, and March 4, 2022. Kelsey has been charged with several counts of sexual abuse in the third degree, which is a class "C" felony.
Kelsey was taken into custody at the Sac County Jail on a $30,000.00 bond. She has since posted bond and is awaiting a court date.
East Sac County High School released the following statement:
“The District is aware of the recent criminal charges filed against a staff member, Stefanie Kelsey. During its investigation into this matter, the District received and plans to accept her resignation effective immediately. The Board plans to take action on Monday, March 14. The District will continue to cooperate fully with law enforcement and follow all applicable District policies regarding this matter, including performing any and all reporting obligations as required by law.”
