A month-long construction project is about to get underway on Iowa Highway 150 in Fayette County.

Beginning next week, joint repairs on the deck of the Volga River bridge near Fayette will require a lane closure. According to the Iowa Department of Transportation, temporary signals will be used to alternate traffic through the work zone.

IDOT officials said an 11-foot, six-inch lane-width restriction will be in place for the duration of the project.

The bridge work is slated to start on Monday, weather permitting. The project isn't expected to be finished until mid-August.

IDOT officials remind motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
