Gov. Reynolds Extends Public Emergency Declaration

Iowa bars and restaurants that are currently providing carry-out or delivery of cocktails and other alcoholic beverages will be allowed to continue for at least another week.

Gov. Kim Reynolds signed a new proclamation late Tuesday afternoon continuing the state’s public health emergency declaration. Her latest order extends relief to the state’s bars and restaurants, allowing them to sell alcoholic beverages for carry-out or delivery until April 7.

Public seating areas inside all Iowa bars and restaurants are currently closed because of the coronavirus pandemic. Reynolds’ previous proclamation permitting those businesses to sell alcohol for delivery or carry-out was set to expire Tuesday at midnight.

Other parts of the order Reynolds issued late Tuesday provides county hospitals more flexibility to borrow money and allows Iowa corporations to hold annual meetings electronically. In addition, the governor waived upcoming certification deadlines for law enforcement officers and jailers.
