Eastern Iowa Native Stars in Hit TV Show Spinoff
Supernatural was one of the top shows on American television from 2005 to 2020. For those unfamiliar, IMDb sums up the show as two brothers, Sam and Dean Winchester, that "follow their father's footsteps as hunters, fighting evil supernatural beings of many kinds, including monsters, demons, and gods that roam the earth."
A recently launched spinoff from The CW is a prequel to the long-running series, centering on the life of the Winchester's parents. The show -- The Winchesters -- focuses on when the boy's mother and father first met and found themselves dealing with supernatural beings.
John Winchester, who will ultimately be the father of Sam and Dean, is played by Keokuk, Iowa native Drake Rodger.
Though Rodger didn't technically grow up in Keokuk, he was born there. His family moved around quite a bit as he was growing up, eventually settling in Florida. Pushed by his passion for acting, Rodger moved to California to chase his dream.
Though his acting experience isn't incredibly extensive, his IMDb page does list several other acting opportunities the 23-year-old has taken. He's appeared in a yet-to-be-released movie, Quiet in My Town, which IMDb says "Follows the lives of the citizens of a picturesque small town devoted to football, family, and God."
He also appeared in The in Between, a film the movie database says is based on the following: "After surviving a car accident that took the life of her boyfriend, a teenage girl believes he's attempting to reconnect with her from the afterworld."
Lastly, he also featured in Murder RX, a movie described by the site as "A single mom moves to a small town hoping for a fresh start. Soon she discovers dark secrets hidden in this quaint town that she may not be able to escape."
The show made its premiere on October 11 and is scheduled to air at 7 pm on Tuesday evenings. It's also available for streaming on FuboTV, Hulu, YouTube TV, and more.
