An eastern Iowa man has been seriously injured in a two-vehicle accident in Linn County.

It happened just before 2pm Tuesday (Feb. 7), at the intersection of Alburnett Road and County Home Road, south of Alburnett.

30 year old Michael Willits of Cedar Rapids was driving a van northbound, when he failed to obey a stop sign. His van ran into the side of a semi tractor-trailer that was loaded with a combine.

Willits was taken to University Hospitals in Iowa City to be treated for what appeared to be serious injuries.

The driver of the semi, 34 year old Charles Svoboda of Clutier, was not hurt. The accident is under investigation by the Linn County Sheriff.
