No more late-night visits to Taco Bell in Waterloo anymore! Well, at least, not for a while anyway.

The bad news for fans of Taco Bell is that the restaurant at 1819 La Porte Road in Waterloo has been torn down. The good news is, they're going to build a new Taco Bell on the same ground at that location! In the meantime, you'll have to get your "fix" at the Cedar Falls location, which is still OPEN, at 6023 University Avenue.

Late night Taco Bell run!

Have you ever been in the Taco Bell drive-thru line at 1:00am on Saturday night? Chances are, it was a pretty long line. It's a popular destination for late-night partyers, when you need a late-night snack and you got the "munchies".

Don't get me wrong, Taco Bell is pretty good during the day too, with their classic burritos and tacos, new favorites like the $5 Double Stacked Tacos Box, Crunchwrap Supreme, Fiesta Taco Salad, and, of course, the Chalupa Supreme. Personally, I love the "Cheesy Fiesta Potatoes".

Taco Bell decided it was time to "Live Mas" (live more) and build a new high-tech store. The former building was old and in need of repair, so it's assumed that tearing it down and starting over, just made more sense. Taco Bell fans can be excited because this new location will probably be the nicest in the area! Construction of the new building should begin soon, with a timeline of opening sometime this fall.

Taco Bell in Waterloo is Demolished - Photo Gallery

Here's one you don't see very often. Many restaurants have been "closed for remodeling", but you usually don't see a restaurant completely tear down their building and start over. That's exactly what Taco Bell on La Porte Road in Waterloo is doing.

Who's Hungry? - The Best Burritos In The Cedar Valley - Photos/List

This radio station took a (very) informal poll on our Facebook page and here's a list of the most popular places in the Waterloo/Cedar Falls area to wrap your hands around a giant delicious burrito. You'll notice that they're listed in alphabetical order because it's hard to say that one is better than the other. Except for those cheap frozen burritos you can find in your grocer's freezer, those are truly disgusting. Especially, when you compare them to these local creations made with fresh ingredients and tender loving care. There's a surprising amount of fantastic Mexican restaurants in the area, let's check them out.
