Driver Hauling Gravel Puts Vehicle on Side

An eastern Iowa man has been cited after he crashed a truck loaded with gravel.

The accident happened on North Center Point Road, north of Center Point, shortly after 11:30 AM Monday (July 1, 2019).

Authorities said 52-year-old Brian Schneider of Marion was driving northbound, hauling a load of gravel, when he lost control of his vehicle. Schneider attempted to correct the vehicle before it crashed, but he had to put it on its side, dumping the load of gravel. The vehicle and the gravel totally blocked the road.

Schneider was taken to a Cedar Rapids hospital to be treated for what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.

Officials charged Schneider with failure to maintain control.
