BBQ Grill Hits Maynard Business, Causes $2,000 Damage
Fayette County sheriff's officials were called out to an unusual weekend accident in Maynard.
On Saturday, around 4:20 AM, deputies responded to a report of a traffic accident on Main Street, where a BBQ grill slammed into the front of a building that houses a business.
An investigation determined that Thyron Mathews, Jr., 40, of Oelwein, was driving a truck that was pulling a specially constructed BBQ trailer. The grill came unhitched and skidded into the building.
Officials estimated the accident caused about $2,000 in damage to the business, and $1,500 damage to the trailer-grill.
No one was injured.
Mathews was charged with failure to use required towing equipment.
