Walton Lake, just outside Fairfield, Iowa was the scene of a creepy discovery late last week and Iowa authorities are trying to get to the bottom of it.

Recent reports about students in the Fairfield School District who killed their female teacher are still fresh on the mind of Fairfield residents. Court documents show Norma Graber suffered from an injury to her head, and her body was found under a tarp. A police report states the suspects had items with blood on them. That case doesn't appear connected to this one.

Foul play is not suspected at this time, and the Jefferson County Sheriff's office says they found what they believe to be decomposed male human remains, further noting that the remains have likely been there for over a year.

Cue the banjo from "Deliverance" here.

Authorities say the remains were found near train tracks south of Walton Lake.

KWWL says the remains are initially believed to be that of a male but an ongoing investigation will determine that and again, while foul play is not suspected, no cause of death has been determined.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office at (641)472-3576.

In other news, an investigation continues in a case involving the discovery of human skulls, bound for an unknown location in Iowa, that were found at Chicago O'Hare International Airport. Officials still haven't gotten to the bottom of that case either but a K-9 sniff did find an array of "moss bathmats" along with the skulls in 3 boxes being shipped here. Without the proper permits, which indeed did not appear to exist, the moss was considered a danger to the food supply had it made its way to its destination.
