The Janesville Wildcats advanced to their third straight Iowa High School Volleyball State Championship match.

It was another command performance by the two time and defending champion Janesville Wildcats (36-7). Strong defense and a dominant performance around the net helped propelled the Wildcats to a 3-0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-19) win over Holy Trinity (38-6).

The strong presence around the net was lead by the combo of Bree Thompson and Kennedy Meister for Janesville. Thompson pounded out 23 kills while Meister drilled 12.  Alisa Bengen kept the ball moving scoring 42 assists. Lily Liekweg lead the defensive charge with 17 digs.

Just one more game remains in front of the two-time champion Wildcats. Their championship defense begins at 7:15 PM Friday (Nov. 10) at the US Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids. Gehlen Catholic (29-6) had to go five games in order to punch their ticket to the title match. The Wildcats will be looking for their fourth straight title in five years.
