Black Hawks Get Revenge in Fargo
Matej Tomek made 28 saves to help lift the Waterloo to the win at Sheels Arena in Fargo, ND.
Tomek stopped all 11 Fargo shots in the third period, allowing the Hawks to pull ahead in the late stages. He had also turned away 11 in the opening frame and the game went to intermission scoreless.
The Black Hawks held the lead for seven seconds during the second period. The first goal of the night came at 13:20 of the middle period. Solag Bakich took Jackson Cates’ pass out of the left corner, stepped across the crease, and slipped in a backhander. After controlling the ensuing faceoff, the Force answered; Garrett Van Wyhe knocked in the rebound of a Nick Cardelli chance at the other end of the rink.
A three-goal third period settled the issue, but only one of them came with Strauss Mann in the crease. Bobby Trivigno beat Mann during a power play at 7:27 when Ben Copeland’s pass from the left circle made it across the net mouth.
Hunter Lellig added the first of two empty net goals at 18:14; Garrett Klee notched the other with 34.4 seconds left.
Waterloo will return from the USHL’s holiday break on the road against the Omaha Lancers on December 28th. The Hawks’ next home game is the following night against the Lincoln Stars, featuring the Chicago Blackhawks Bud Light Ice Crew and $2 Bud Light for fans aged 21 and older.
