Thousands of people celebrated Maddie Poppe's return home to Clarksville on Tuesday (May 15, 2018).

Several events were held for the "American Idol" finalist, who's one of three contestants remaining on ABC's reality show. Poppe will compete for the title in the two-night finale this weekend.

More than 10-thousand people filled the grandstands of the Butler County Fairgrounds in Allison, where Poppe gave an hour-long free concert that featured songs she's performed on the show. Before that, hundreds lined Main Street in Clarksville for a parade in her honor.

Prior to the parade, Clarksville Mayor Val Swinton presented the singer-songwriter with a proclamation declaring May 15, 2018, as "Maddie Poppe Day". Then, the 20-year-old took time to mingle among those who attended the event.

After the parade, Poppe hopped into a limousine for the seven-mile trip to Allison.

An "American Idol" production crew accompanied Poppe. Highlights from Tuesday's parade and concert will be shown on the show Sunday night.

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds is encouraging everyone in the state to vote for Poppe this weekend. On Wednesday, she is scheduled to sign a proclamation, declaring Sunday, May 20th as "Maddie Poppe Day" in Iowa.
