City Wide Garage Sales Across Northeast Iowa [List]

For some people, spring in Iowa is all about, the grass and flowers starting to grow, the birds chirping and warmer weather. And there's also a group of people, who view spring time as the beginning of just one thing. It's GARAGE SALE SEASON!

If you're a garage sale fanatic, like my wife, you've been chanting in anticipation, "I'm ready, I'm ready, I'm ready!" It's time to start getting up early on Saturday mornings, hitting the drive-thru line at your favorite coffee shop and start looking for garage sale signs. Of course, wondering aimlessly is never a good plan when you're garage-saleing", you need a list or better yet you need to find a neighborhood with several garage sales or a small town with city-wide garage sales, well, you're in luck.

In its heyday, the Rath Packing Company employed 8,500 people. It's still thought of fondly by many as what helped put Waterloo "on the map" and giving many area families a good income to raise their families. When rumors of bankruptcy started in 1979, the company became employee-owned in 1980. Despite many attempts to save it and massive amounts of money invested (from employees and loans from the city of Waterloo) all of those efforts ultimately failed, leading to its demise and liquidation in 1985.
