Chris Soules is speaking out for the first time since being involved in a fatal accident back in 2017. The 37-year-old former Bachelor contestant sat down with People magazine and talked about the day that changed his life forever.

On April 24th, 2017 Soules was driving his pickup truck when he rear-ended a tractor being driven by 66-year-old Kenneth Moser. Soules told People "the next thing you know I'm coming to inside my pickup. I heard a voice of a man who witnessed the accident say call 911."

In his first interview since the accident, Soules said "I was giving chest compressions and continued to do CPR until eventually, I spat out Mosher's blood...At that point, I thought it didn't seem to be doing a lot of good. I was scared. And I remember thinking that he might not make it."  Soules was right. Mosher was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died.

Soules was charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death. Although there was alcohol in his vehicle at the time of the crash, his blood-alcohol level was 0.0. He accepted a suspended two-year prison sentence to serve two years probation. According to the settlement, Soules and his parents will pay $2.5 million to the family of the victim as part of a wrongful death lawsuit.

Soules says in the interview that "there isn't a day that goes by that I don't wish I could have done more..." The entire Chris Soules interview will appear in this Friday's issue of People magazine.
