Two Killed, One Seriously Injured in Cedar Rapids Shooting

The Cedar Rapids Police Department (CRPD) is investigating a Thursday evening shooting at an apartment complex on the city's northeast side.

According to a media release from the CRPD, officers responded to the 3900 block of Sherman Street NE just after 8:20 p.m. Thursday (10/5) night, after a 911 caller reported hearing gunshots in that area.

When officers arrived, they found three adult males in the parking lot, all suffering from numerous gunshot wounds. Two of the men were determined to have already died from their injuries. The third was taken to a local hospital, with serious injuries. His condition is unknown.

The shootings happened at The Pointe at Cedar Rapids apartment complex, which is located off 42nd St. NE, between Center Point Road and Noelridge Park.

The Cedar Rapids Police Department continues to investigate. We will update this story as more information becomes available.

On Monday, October 9, the Cedar Rapids Police Department released the names of the two victims who were killed. They were identified as Myron Snyder and Maurice Brown. Both were 21 years old, and from Cedar Rapids.

U.S. Marshals Arrest Ohio Murder Suspect in Cedar Rapids

25-year-old Antoine Richardson of Lorain, Ohio was arrested around 29th Street and Prairie Drive NE in Cedar Rapids on a murder charge in Elyria, Ohio on Thursday (October 5). He is accused of fatally shooting Isael Duardo Rio in September.

Duardo Rio was reportedly shot at approximately 3:12 a.m. on Saturday, September 2. His body was found in the parking lot of Elyria's newspaper, The Chronicle Telegram.

Richardson will be extradited back to Ohio to face charges.
