Cedar Falls Jewelry Store Robbed, Employees Pepper Sprayed
Cedar Falls police are investigating a second robbery in the city within 24 hours, and the third in less than a month.
The latest incident occurred at Kay Jewelers, 306 E. Viking Road, late Monday (Jan. 22, 2018). Officers were called to the store just before 8:30 PM on the report of a robbery involving a weapon.
Police said a man armed with a knife entered the store and demanded money and jewelry, then fled on foot. Before leaving, the suspect used pepper spray on the employees.
According to authorities, the workers were treated by paramedics at the scene. None of them were taken to the hospital.
Officials said the man was dressed in all black and wearing a face mask when he held-up the business. The suspect is described as a white male with a light-to-medium build, about five-feet, five-inches tall.
The robbery at Kay Jewelers happened roughly 24 hours after someone held-up a convenience store on the northern edge of the city.
Police said a mask-wearing suspect, armed with a handgun, took cash during a robbery at Prime Mart on Center St. in Cedar Falls Sunday evening. A hold-up at Dollar Tree, 911 Brandilynn Blvd., was also reported on Dec. 26.
No arrests have been made in connection with any of the three robberies.
