If you're looking to try something new in 2024, you may want to check out the food and drinks at The Bếp Teahouse in Iowa City!

The Bếp Teahouse first opened in Houston, Texas in 2017. The chain began expanding in 2021, with the first location in Iowa opening in early December of 2023. The shop specializes in milk tea, which is sometimes referred to as "boba tea." According to an article from the Food Network, "the word boba technically refers to the bite-sized, chewy tapioca pearls found in bubble milk tea, though sometimes people use it to refer to the entire drink itself."

In addition to the different flavors of milk tea, The Bếp Teahouse also offers other beverages like organic fruit teas, cheese foam teas, brewed teas, drip coffee, smoothies, and more. Their official website reads:

"We brew teas from loose leaves tea, organic tea, all premium grade. Our sweetener is 100% simple syrup derived from sugar canes. Our fruits are fresh selections only. Our milk is organic. Most importantly, our chewy, honeyed boba is made in the U.S."

And don't forget about the street food! The shop's menu includes fried fish balls, popcorn chicken, cheddar fries, wings, and other fried foods. The most popular item is Tiger Paws, which are mochi waffles stuffed with mozzarella, Nutella, caramel, and other fillings.
