Bed Bugs Increase In The Cedar Valley
The old saying, "Don't let the bed bugs bite", seems to be a little more challenging in the Cedar Valley. Pest control service, Orkin, has released its annual top 50 cities list for bed bug infestations, showing an increase for the Cedar Valley. The Cedar Rapids-Waterloo-Dubuque market is listed at number 38 in the list of the top 50 U.S. cities, which is up from number 41 on last year's list.
The list is based on treatment data from the metro areas where Orkin performed the most bed bug treatments in both residential and commercial locations. Here is the complete list of the top 50.

Bed bugs can be difficult to detect and treat because of their small size and ability to survive up to a year without feeding. They've been known to hide around seams of a mattress, behind headboards and in cracks and crevices, usually within a five-foot radius of the bed. The first signs of a bed bug infestation are often the bed bugs themselves or small dark stains on your mattress.
