Man Dies In Fayette County Lawn Mower Accident

A northeast Iowa man has died from injuries he sustained in an accident involving a lawn tractor, in rural Fayette County.

Sheriff's officials received a 911 call Tuesday afternoon reporting a mishap in the 22,000 block of 275th Street, just south of Waucoma.

An investigation indicated that the driver of the mower, 78-year-old Ronald Nolte of Waucoma, was eastbound on the shoulder of the road, mowing the edge of the ditch. Authoriites said the wheels of the 2011 John Deere Z-425 mower came off the shoulder and caused the tractor to roll into the ditch on top of Nolte.

Nolte was pronounced dead at the scene, sheriff's officials said.

The accident is still under investigation.
