If you're a fan of shows on the Food Network, keep an eye out for a talented Iowan! According to a recent article from the Des Moines Register, a 13-year-old kid named Nash Roe is making a name for himself on the competition series 'Kids Baking Championship.'

'Kids Baking Championship' first aired back in 2015 and is currently in its 11th season on the Food Network. If you're not familiar with the show, Wikipedia explains that "each week, the children compete to make the best dish, and are judged on presentation, taste, and creativity." There are 12 kids competing for the $25,000 grand prize this season, including Clive, Iowa-native Nash Roe.

There aren't a lot of 8th graders with their own business, but Nash is a superstar! He is the owner of Nash's Confections, which got its start during the pandemic. His website reads:

"Back in 2020, over Mother's Day weekend my sister got a concussion, so I baked them treats to give to them, and that's how my business started."

Nash's business took off when his mom posted his menu on social media. The current menu features Bavarian Pretzel Rolls, Oreo-Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookies, Cinna-Roes, and his award-winning Pecan Pie Cheesecake! According to the Des Moines Register, Nash has fulfilled "800 to 900 orders in the past two-and-a-half years and spends 15 to 25 hours per week in the family's home kitchen."

Nash baked his famous Cinna-Roes during episode one of 'Kids Baking Championship,' which aired on December 26th. They guaranteed him a spot on episode two last night (January 2nd), where he made it through to the next episode! Food Networks 'Kids Baking Championship' airs Monday nights at 7 p.m. We can't wait to see how far Nash goes this season!
