Aerosmith’s Joe Perry Announces First Solo Album Since 2009
Aerosmith's Joe Perry will release Sweetzerland Manifesto, his first non-holiday solo album in eight years, on Jan. 19. The project will feature collaborations with Robin Zander of Cheap Trick, as well as David Johansen and Terry Reid. Check out the track listing below.
All but one of the songs was written or co-written by Perry along with his various guest vocalists. Zander co-wrote and sings on "Aye, Aye, Aye," while Perry's Hollywood Vampires bandmate Johnny Depp plays drums on a cover of "Eve of Destruction." Johansen sings on a trio of songs, while Perry's sons Tony and Roman appear on the instrumental "Spanish Sushi." "I'll Do Happiness" features Reid on vocals and Ringo Starr's son Zak on drums.
"It's going to be interesting to see what songs people gravitate to," Perry said in a press release announcing the album, "because there's such a wide variety of tunes."
Perry produced Sweetzerland Manifesto with Bruce Witkin, with sessions held at Studio 1480 in Los Angeles. Longtime Aerosmith producer Jack Douglas also co-wrote and co-produced several tracks. Perry issued Joe Perry's Merry Christmas in 2014; before that, he released 2009's Have Guitar, Will Travel. Aerosmith's last studio effort was 2012's Music From Another Dimension!
