Here in the Midwest, ranch dressing is an essential condiment. I don't know about you, but my friends and I eat ranch with almost everything. Chicken, fries, sandwiches, salads, pizza, anything deep-fried... ranch really does make everything taste better!

True ranch-lovers will tell you that there is a distinct difference between bottled ranch from the grocery store and homemade ranch from a restaurant. Hidden Valley is fine in a pinch, but nothing compares to creamy, freshly-made ranch. There are lots of restaurants here in the Midwest that make their own ranch, but the big question is: who has the very best?

A new competition from the site Midwest vs. Everybody is aiming to find the best ranch dressing in our region of the country. All you need to do is submit the name of the restaurant, your name, and your email address by October 29th at 11:59 p.m. And, just by doing that, you're eligible to win one of ten $50 Amazon gift cards!

My favorite ranch on the planet is from the chain Jet's Pizza, but since we don't have any Jet's locations here in Iowa, I decided to vote for a different place. Just down the street from the radio station is a teeny tiny restaurant called Runt's Munchies, and the owner makes the most delicious ranch. That includes a jalapeno ranch, which is AMAZING. I actually refer to her as my "ranch dealer," because she's always willing to sell me a big container of it. I just can't get enough!
