9-10-2001: Blockbuster Announced it was Getting Rid of VHS Tapes
On September 10, 2001, Blockbuster announced that it was moving away from VHS tapes to make room for the more profitable DVDs.
In 2019, there's only one Blockbuster store remaining in the world. It's in Oregon.
