The Cedar Falls Police Department would like to remind residents of the 48-hour parking ordinance. With the recent snow fall in the metro area, snow plows and salt trucks need to be able to remove snow in all public right-of-ways to help ensure safe travel throughout the City of Cedar Falls.

Beginning Thursday, January 8, 2015 at 8:00 AM, the Cedar Falls Police Department will begin ticketing all vehicles in violations of the 48-hour ordinance. Any vehicle not moved within 24 hours after receiving the citation will be towed at the owner’s expense.

Residents are also reminded to clear their abutting sidewalks of snow and ice in accordance with city ordinance. Also, beginning on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at 8:00 AM, the city will begin serving notices/billings to residents who have not cleared the sidewalk abutting to their property.

The Cedar Falls Police Department is asking the assistance of the public to help ensure the safe travel for motorist and pedestrians throughout the winter months.

As the clean-up from Monday's winter storm continues, snow emergencies remain in effect for the following cities:

  • Hudson: Through 6 p.m. Wednesday
  • La Porte City: Through 4:00 p.m. Wednesday
  • Manchester: Residents should park on EVEN SIDE of street until further notice
