40 Years Ago Today: ‘Life of Brian’ was Released

August 17, 1979, Monty Python’s “Life of Brian” premiered in America. The film tells the story of Brian, who is born on the same day as his next-door neighbor, Jesus Christ, and then everyone confuses Brian with being the messiah.

George Harrison had a small part in the film and his company also funded the production of the film.  It was the highest grossing British film in North America in 1979.
