One person has been seriously injured in a motorcycle accident that happened during the weekend "Memorial Ride and Drive" awareness event for Lyric and Elizabeth.

Fayette County sheriff's officials said they were notified of a three-vehicle accident on Iowa Highway 3 and "J" Ave. north of Stanley shortly after 1 p.m. on Saturday (July 15, 2017).

According to a news release, arriving deputies discovered that three motorcycles collided and crashed to the ground during the annual charity motorcycle rally. The event is held in memory of Lyric Cook-Morrissey and Elizabeth Collins, the young cousins who disappeared while riding their bicycles in Evansdale five years ago.

The crash injured all three motorcycle drivers, who were all taken to the Oelwein hospital for treatment. One of the victims was later air-lifted to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, where he was last listed in serious condition (UPDATE: Victims' Names Released).
