11/3/1985: Motley Crue Rocks the UNI-Dome
As part of their ‘Theatre of Pain’ tour in 1985, Motley Crue performed at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls on Sunday night, November 3rd.
I couldn’t locate a ticket stub from that concert online but I did find one from a Cedar Rapids concert from August 19th of that year. The price on that ticket stub: $12.50. That Cedar Rapids concert was held at the Five Seasons Center (now known as the Alliant Energy Powerhouse) in Cedar Rapids.
An exact setlist from the Cedar Falls concert couldn’t be located online, but most of the band’s U.S. concerts included the following songs, and usually in this order:
"Looks That Kill"
"Use It or Lose It"
"Shout at the Devil"
"Fight for Your Rights"
"Ten Seconds to Love"
"Piece of Your Action"
"Home Sweet Home"
"Red Hot"
"Guitar Solo"
"Keep Your Eye on the Money"
"Louder Than Hell"
"Drum Solo"
"Too Young to Fall in Love"
"Knock 'em Dead
“Kid"
"Live Wire"
"Smokin' in the Boys' Room"
"City Boy Blues"
"Helter Skelter"
"Jailhouse Rock"
The opening band for the Crue at the UNI-Dome was Autograph, riding high on their hit song “Turn up the Radio” from their debut album which had just been released a year prior.
Autograph’s setlist most likely appeared to include:
"Nineteen & Non-Stop"
"Thrill of Love"
"My Girlfriend's Boyfriend Isn't Me"
"Send Her to Me"
"Deep End"
"Turn Up the Radio"
Here's audio from the Chicago concert that happened to days before they rocked the UNI-Dome:
