The National Weather Service in Des Moines has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for a portion of the area. It is expected to effect Tuesday morning's commute.

Light snow will fall through the area today before tapering off later this afternoon. A low pressure over the area this morning will move south and east through the day with wind gusts increasing in its wake gusting to 26 MPH, producing blowing snow as well.

The Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 3:00 PM this afternoon (MAR 6, 2018). The forecast calls for up to an additional inch of snow to fall. Slippery road conditions are expected, including during the morning commute. Be prepared for reduced visibility at times.

The precipitation should end later this afternoon with dry and cooler conditions anticipated into Wednesday and Thursday. Lows tonight and Wednesday Night should dip into the teens and lower 20's with the coolest highs of the week Wednesday, no better than the middle 20's to middle 30's.
