Thursday's (FEB 22, 2018) forecast has a Winter Weather Advisory in effect for all most all 99 counties in Iowa.

This Winter Weather Advisory issued by the National Weather Service in Des Moines is in effect until midnight tonight. With the exception of a few counties around the Quad City area, all of Iowa is under this advisory.

Another winter storm moves across the state today. Light snow has already started falling in Central Iowa. That front will eventually make its way to northeast Iowa. This snow fall will change over to freezing rain/drizzle North central Iowa may see more snow than freezing rain/drizzle. The precipitation will begin to end by around midnight over western Iowa and across central Iowa by daybreak Friday.

As per the NWS we can expect mixed precipitation. We can expect an additional snow accumulations of up to two inches. Ice accumulations of between a tenth and
two tenths of an inch are expected.

Today's forecast calls for snow and freezing rain likely before 3:00 PM. Then we will see freezing rain most likely between 3:00 PM & 5:00 PM. Freezing rain is likely into the evening. The sky will be cloudy, and the high temperature in the Waterloo area will be near 32. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

The ice will obviously result in difficult travel conditions, including during the evening commute. Be prepared for reduced visibility at times.
