After a small break from the ice and snow, Mother Nature is giving the Cedar Valley and surrounding area another one-two punch. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Black Hawk, Clayton, Fayette, Grundy, and Grant Counties from 3 PM this afternoon to 6 PM Wednesday.

A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for Allamakee, Bremer, Butler, Chickasaw, Floyd, Franklin, Hardin, Howard, Mitchell, and Winneshiek counties from 3 PM today to 6 PM Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service Website, a rain and snow mix will move in this afternoon and then change to all snow tonight in the Winter Weather Advisory area. Storm total amounts will range from 2 to 5 inches. The Snow may be wet and heavy initially Tuesday and Tuesday night. Northwest winds may gust to 30 to 35 MPH during the day on Wednesday.

In the Winter Storm area, the heaviest snowfall rates will be this afternoon and evening with up to 1 inch per hour possible at times. 6 to 9 inches of snow are expected with higher or lower amounts possible.

Very difficult driving conditions are possible, especially by this evening and through Wednesday morning.
