Voters in Jesup went to the polls yesterday (Tuesday), to fill a couple of vacancies on their city council.

Five candidates were vying for 2 empty seats on the Jesup council, made available when members Marha McGlaughlin and Todd Rohlfsen, resigned in April.

In Tuesday's special election, the two candidates who received the most votes were Richard Mott and John Crawford. Mott got 187 votes and Crawford received 160.

Next came Dawn Vogel with 142, Carol Wilson with 75, and Jason Thompson got 17 votes.

The Buchanan County Auditor will canvass the votes on Monday.
