A crash in Black Hawk County sent three people to the hospital over the weekend.

Sheriff's deputies responed to a two-vehicle accident with injuries at the intersection of E. Cedar Wapsi and Raymond roads around 10:30 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 12, 2015).

An investigation revealed that a 2006 Toyota Tundra pickup truck driven by James Mortimer, 47, of Milford, Kansas, was traveling westbound on E. Cedar Wapsi Road, when he failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection. His vehicle was struck by a northbound 2003 Pontiac Bonneville, driven by Shannon Schrage, 18, of Sumner. The impact sent the Toyota into the southwest ditch causing it to roll at least once.

Mortimer was cited for failing to stop at a posted stop sign.

Both drivers, along with a passenger in the Toyota, Byron Mortimer, 19, were transported to local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Their condition has not been released.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by Evansdale Police, Dunkerton Fire, Denver Ambulance and Ray Mount Wrecker Service.
