The Fayette County Sheriff has arrested a local man for allegedly fighting alongside a rural road.

Shortly after 2pm Sunday, the sheriff was called to a possible domestic situation along Highway 150, south of West Union. When officers arrived, they determined an argument took place and an assault occurred. 18 year old Victor Childers of Oelwein was taken into custody on a charge of domestic abuse assault. The Fayette County Sheriff was assisted at the scene by the Iowa DNR.

Two area teens face charges in a weekend traffic stop. At about 10:30pm Saturday, a Fayette County deputy pulled over a car at the intersection of East Main and East Streets in Maynard for a traffic violation. The officer detected a strong semll of a controlled substance coming from the vehicle. Following an investigation, the driver, 18 year old Victor Childers of Oelwein, was arrested for possession of alcohol under the legal age, and excessive speed. A passenger, 18 year old Austin Peters of Maynard, was charged with open container, underage alcohol possession, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and carrying weapons. The incident is still under investigation.

And a young Parnell, Iowa man faces a theft charge following a gas drive-off. At about 10:30am Sunday, the sheriff got a report that someone left without paying for gas at the Pumper Gas Station in Fayette. 19 year old Jack Hooper was taken into custody on a charge of theft in the 5th degree.
