Weekend Accident Takes Life of Motorcyclist

A Northeast Iowa man has died in a motorcycle accident in Clayton County.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, it happened just before 1pm Saturday, on Highway 52 near Millville.

66 year old Jimmy Hansel of Guttenberg was operating the cycle southbound on 52, when he tried to avoid colliding with some stopped traffic. The motorcycle went out of control, entered a ditch and overturned.

Hansel was ejected off the bike; he was taken to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries. Authorities note that Hansel was not wearing a helmet.

The State Patrol was assisted by the Clayton County Sheriff, Monticello Police, and Guttenberg Fire/EMS.
