A deadly weekend traffic accident in Clayton County has claimed another life.

Dystany Moran, 25, of Independence, died of her injuries at University Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City late Tuesday afternoon (June 26, 2018). She was a passenger on a motorcycle, driven by her husband, that collided with a small SMV.

The crash happened on Iowa Highway 13 late Saturday afternoon, southeast of St. Olaf. According to sheriff's officials, a compact sport utility vehicle -- driven by Joan Fish, 61, of Luana -- crashed into two oncoming motorcycles.

Moran's husband suffered critical injuries in the accident. Jacob Moran, 26, of Independence, is being treated at the same Iowa City hospital where his wife died. The couple were newlyweds, married last September.

The other motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities identified him as James Everett, 57, of Jesup.
