The week six Iowa high school football schedule includes four head-to-head match-ups of rated Northeast Iowa teams and the 101st meeting of cross-town rivals in Waterloo.

The battle for supremacy in eight-player district five takes center stage in Gilbertville Friday night (October 3rd, 2014) when second-ranked Don Bosco hosts sixth-rated H-L-V of Victor in battle of unbeatens. The defending state champion Dons enter their showdown at home with a 19-game winning streak, currently the longest in Iowa.

Also on Friday, the only remaining unbeaten squads in eight-player district four meet in Elkader. Ninth-ranked Central Community hosts No. 8 Turkey Valley with sole possession of first-place in the district standings on the line.

The other marquee match-ups in Northeast Iowa are non-district games, neither of which will count when determining playoff qualifiers. Both have the potential of being great contests.

One will be played in Waverly, where the Class-3A seventh-ranked Go-Hawks of Waverly-Shell Rock host Clear Lake, the top-rated team in Class-2A. The No. 1 Lions are unbeaten after five games. Waverly-Shell Rock is 4-1 overall.

Nashua-Plainfield hosts the other non-district game featuring ranked opponents. That match-up features two teams ranked fifth -- the Class-A Huskies and Class-1A's Saint Ansgar.

In Waterloo Friday night, a large crowd is expected at Memorial Stadium for the annual cross-town battle between East and West. East has won three of the last five meetings in the century-old rivalry, including two overtime games. West, however, leads the overall series 50-46-5.

There are three other notable match-ups in Northeast Iowa Friday night. West Delaware travels to Charles City, Dyerville Beckman Catholic plays at North Fayette Valley and Aplington-Parkersburg hosts La Porte City Union. The combined overall record of those six teams is currently 25-5.
