Weather Causes Accident With Serious Injuries

Black Hawk County Sheriff Deputies responded to a two vehicle accident on Dubuque Road and Holgate Road. On arrival Deputies observed two vehicles in the south ditch. Both had heavy front end damage.

Preliminary investigation revealed a 2008 Ford Focus, driven by Christopher S. Salina, 49, of Jesup collided with a 1996 Chevrolet Pickup driven by Christian Lozano, 18, also of Jesup. The Pickup was traveling westbound when the Ford, traveling eastbound, appeared to loose control and came across the centerline into the path of the truck. Conditions at the time were near white out.

Salina had to be extricated. He was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. His condition has not been released.
