The Waterloo Bucks suffered a loss during the recent flood but, in this case, they weren’t defeated by any of their Northwoods League rivals.

According to a local police report, someone got into Riverfront Stadium while it was submerged in flood water and stole thousands of dollars worth of equipment belonging to the baseball team. Authorities said the thief broke into the press box through a window and took several items, including a high-definition camera, a television, an iPad tablet and a radar gun.

Police said the break-in happened sometime between Friday afternoon and Tuesday morning (Sept. 27, 2016), when team officials returned to the stadium and discovered the items were missing. Bucks’ officials put some items in the press box to keep them from being damaged by flood water.

The nearby Cedar River reached its second-highest level on record over the weekend, cresting at 22.97 feet in Waterloo Saturday evening. Flood water from the swollen river surrounded the stadium for several days and covered the playing field to the warning track in front of the outfield fence.

Police have not made any arrests in the case.
